Join Consult Australia and senior industry leaders for an exclusive, member-only boardroom luncheon with Sally Stannard, Director-General of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Timed to follow a series of critical policy and market developments, this session is designed to provide members with timely, practical insight to inform business planning and positioning for the year ahead. Sally will reflect on the evolving fuel supply situation in Queensland and its longer-term implications for the transport and road infrastructure sector, including cost pressures, delivery risk and network resilience.
With the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) released in August 2026, this is a key opportunity to hear directly from TMR on how the forward pipeline is taking shape, where priorities are shifting, and what this means for consultants engaging in upcoming procurement. Sally will also provide perspective on the state and federal budget settings and how these are translating into funded works, sequencing and delivery expectations across the program.
Held under the Chatham House Rule, Consult Australia’s boardroom luncheons create a confidential environment for open, high-value discussion. Sally Stannard
Director-General Department of Transport and Main Roads
As Director-General, Sally Stannard leads the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). Sally was appointed as Director-General in 2023.
In this role, Sally oversees TMR’s delivery of transport services and infrastructure, the shaping of current and future transport systems, and management of the State’s transport regulation, marine and road safety functions.
TMR has approximately 6850 staff and an annual budget of $15.8 billion, including capital expenditure of $6.3 billion and managed assets worth in excess of $136 billion. TMR’s network also includes 33,000km of state-controlled roads, service contracts worth over $2 Billion per annum and important rail, bus, cycling and maritime infrastructure.
In Sally’s previous role as the Deputy Director-General (Translink), she led the delivery of customer-focused passenger transport services across Queensland including policy, planning, ticketing, contract management and customer services.
Sally is the Chair of Cross River Rail and Chair of the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand. She is also a board member of Transport Australia and the Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation. She holds qualifications in Engineering and International Studies and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Sally is passionate about the role transport plays in equitable and sustainable economic development of our cities and regions. Sally was Acting Director-General from 5 June 2023 and formally appointed in December 2023, taking on the leadership of TMR’s portfolio of work across road, rail, bus, cycling and marine infrastructure in Queensland. Alongside that, Sally has oversight of a new addition to TMR—the Queensland Government Customer and Digital Group that is focused on driving Queensland’s digital economy, delivering better citizen-centric services, and optimising the Queensland Government’s investment and use of technology.
