About the course

This course looks at the legal framework of professional services contracts and considers how consultants can negotiate agreements which reflect their proper professional role as acknowledged by the courts.

The course addresses not only how the law treats the contract itself, but also the process of negotiating that contract, and how that process can help minimise the likelihood of dispute. It begins by investigating how and in what circumstances a legally enforceable contract is formed, and how various terms and conditions are incorporated into that agreement. The course then explains the various elements of consultant agreements and how insurance impacts upon those contractual arrangements and liability.

An extensive workshop builds skills on how to identify onerous clauses, and provides delegates with a deeper understanding of which clauses are unacceptable and why. Clauses which are not covered by PI insurance are highlighted. The entire course is supported by examples and case studies to contextualise the material.

Tony Horan’s Contracts for Consultants course provides the best understanding of contractual risk of any course available. Tony is a fantastic facilitator and his understanding of contracts and risks combined with the stories he tells are a must for anyone working in a commercial role in a consultant.

Contracts for Consultants is an excellent course run superbly by Tony Horan. It covers all the fundamentals and unpacks the typical obligations consultants commonly discharge. Tony shares his vast experience and weaves in real examples of disputes and case law to demonstrate how parties pursue their rights under contracts. In the ever increasing adversarial markets consultants operate in, this course is essential learning to assist consultants to protect their positions and understand all their contract obligations and associated risk. I highly recommend the course.
