Simon Crooks
Chief Executive Officer of the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA),
Simon Crooks joined the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) as the Chief Executive Officer in August 2025.
Simon has over 40 years of international and national experience delivering major infrastructure in a variety of engineering, project management, consulting and leadership roles. He has worked for global firms including Aquenta Consulting, Baulderstone (now part of Lendlease), Walter Construction Group and John Laing Construction.
As Project Director with the Destination Brisbane Consortium from 2016 to 2025, Simon was responsible for establishing and leading the project team that delivered the $3.6bn Queen’s Wharf Brisbane integrated resort development that has transformed the city’s tourism and entertainment offering.
He has extensive experience in highly regulated industry sectors and a strong track record managing multiple stakeholders and delivering complex projects. He is passionate about bringing the right people together and empowering them to deliver outstanding outcomes.
