Danny Benjamin
VicGrid - Executive Director Project Delivery
A great thing about being an engineer is you get to be involved in building complex things that underpin the working of society. This sense of contribution, endeavour and a tangible impact is what has driven Danny to be involved in infrastructure projects working across both the private and public sector.
Although Danny has designed various things as an engineer (some of which are still standing) he quickly realised that his skills lay more in helping infrastructure businesses to plan and deliver more effectively. He is now the Executive Director of Delivery for VicGrid – established to enable the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Danny has held leadership positions at Major Road Projects Victoria and Victoria Police while also having worked in the private sector in construction and engineering companies.
Danny believes that delivering complex projects offers a platform for change, both social and economic. It is a team sport that takes all of us to be involved and is only done well when people with different skills, perspectives and experiences come together with purpose.
