The Hon. Bill Yan MLA
Treasurer of the Northern Territory, Minister for Logistics & Infrastructure and Minister for Housing Construction
The Hon. Bill Yan MLA is the Treasurer of the Northern Territory, as well as the Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure and the Minister for Housing Construction. He was sworn in on 10 September 2024 and represents the seat of Namatjira in the 15th Assembly of the Northern Territory.
As Treasurer and through his Ministerial portfolios, Bill is focused on making responsible decisions to invest in and deliver key projects that will support the Northern Territory’s long-term economic growth, while also improving opportunities and outcomes for the community.
Before entering politics, Bill spent over six years as the Superintendent of the Alice Springs Correctional Centre, where he led efforts to reduce re-offending through skills training programs, ultimately improving employment opportunities and supporting successful reintegration into society.
Bill has also gained significant management experience in other roles, including as a foreman and manager of a local trade business, as well as managing fleet operations at AAT Kings and Adventure Tours Central Australia.
Moving to the Territory in 1991, Bill has called Alice Springs home ever since.
